to transform into this one?
Simple, according to Isabel.
1. Get in mommy's van.
2. Drive to Jack's Pets.
3. Buy a kitten.
4. Drive home with kitten.
5. Live happily ever after.
Oh, if it were only that easy. You see, we already have a cat and a dog. Sugar has been our cat since Isabel was a baby, so she doesn't remember those adorable kitten days. And now Ellie is full grown (though only 10 pounds), so her puppy days are over. And Isabel has that itch to take care of a baby animal (oh, she is so much like her mother it's not even funny).
Here's the thing. A kitten costs money. A kitten needs a litter box. The litter box needs to be cleaned. And I clean up enough poop for a living; I don't need one more creature to clean up after. I would really like to think that Isabel would take care of the litter box. She is a very responsible girl. However, she is also only eight years old. After about a week, the cleaning up would get old. Then I would be stuck. Not to mention the vet bills, getting the kitten fixed and declawed and vaccinated...And then, by the time you shell out all that money, it's no longer a kitten, it's a cat. And Isabel will be wanting a new baby to take care of.
So, as much as I would love to make my daughter's dreams of having a kitten come true, I just don't think it's gonna happen. Sorry, Isabel. Until I finally cave in, I will just have to suffer through reading school writing assignments like this one:
"Dear Mrs. Francis, I really want a new kitten but my mom says 'no, it's to much money', so I guess I'm not getting one 'till I can afford it. I love animals, I hope you do to! Your friend, Isabel K."
Jeez, girl, twist that guilt-shaped knife in a little further, wouldya?

The guilt, the guilt, girls are so good at it aren't they. Hang tough, maybe she will be happy with a stuffed kitty....? Good Luck.
Ah yes giving you those sweet I love you mom eyes....I'll feed it, clean up after it, bath it....then a week later they have forgotten it. I remember all to well when I went through this with my girls.
here kitty kitty
That girl. So hard to resist, I know. You should look for a local animal cat rescue and let her volunteer!
She is beautiful, and she deserves 18 cats.
Wait! I didn't say go get her 18 feline friends. I'm merely stating she is worthy of a plethora of kitties.
How cute! Make her some rules to follow with the kitten and have her do it! My kids all help out with our dog! Thanks for sharing -- Much Love -- Your daughter is beautiful.
Tell her Becky will buy her a kitten since her mean mommy won't! (ha ha).
I ABSOLUTLEY think you should get her a kitten! Mike guilted me with the dog by saying "they will only be a child once...this is thier childhood".
Think of ALL the love Ellie has added to your family. Yeah, it's work...but so is life!
P.S. The Humane Society here already has them spaded/nuetered when you adopt!!!
Ah yes... the kitty guilt... I get that on an hourly basis. Essie will NOT let it go... and some days more than ANYTHING I would love to come home with a kitten for them, and completely surprise them.. but the $$ and the litter
would you just get her a kitten already. I can't stand it any longer. I know I am week. Shhh, don't tell my kids.
You are a full fledged mom for sure...This is the EXACT post I'll be writing one day. I think about it even now. lol
Don't worry. My mom did the same thing with us and I was sad, but now, I'm going to do the same thing and she will, too! hehe

My brother's 30 and just got a puppy and he can barely take care of it! I feel your pain! You should have her volunteer at a local shelter and then she can get her fill of puppies/kitties! Good luck!
Found you through SITS and decided to stop by and check out your blog. Great blog, great pics, great inspiration :) Hope you have a wonderful week and keep up the good work.
xoxo
