It won't officially be autumn for another month, but it already feels like the fun part of summer is over...
And though I was crazy-insane-tothebreakingpoint-busy with school and work these past few months, we did manage to make plenty of great memories in between the madness.
We celebrated Mamaw Kay's birthday with food and euchre and the love of her grandbabies...
We watched the Reds beat the Giants with Elijah's baseball team...
(I'm gonna miss my fellow baseball mom, Chelle, like crazy...our boys won't be playing together next year :(
I squeezed in a short overnight trip to Chicago for my friend, Monica's, 40th birthday. We drank and laughed and talked and laughed until our abs were sore and our cheeks hurt from all of that smiling!

And all of a sudden, my clinicals were finished, teachers were announced, and the kids went back to school (Elijah is too cool for the annual "first day" pics...so sad).
However, look at this girl of mine, eleven years old and entering sixth grade. Sigh...
And this boy, who turned seven on the 27th and celebrated with a Lego birthday party full of gifts from our wonderful friends and family. I love the picture that Joe captured at just the right moment!
I just looked at my calendar for the week, and it is completely blank until work on Friday. Did you read that? BLANK. Exactly what I need to recover from an over-the-top summer.
Do you consider summer to be over on September 22nd, after Labor Day, or when school starts? What do you do when your calendar is blank?

LOl...my kids KNOW they get that picture taken no matter. Mama is just like that :)
This summer was wonderful. Full and happy until...it wasn't. School came and saved us at JUST the right time. It won't officially start for me though until Summer get's to start her preK class which isn't until Sept. 7th. So all of my big projects I want to tackle into will have to wait and it is just girl time!
Gabe is 7. Wow! You got big kids in your house! All in all day school this year! What will you ever do with yourself???? (lololol...oh the possiblities! starting with SLEEP and clean and just BE)
Naww...I didn't take Tatum's pictures. She didn't want me to. I wanted to, but she insisted I didn't :( They turned out great though, so we are both happy! Yeah it definitly is a different tone around here with an older one. Looking at colleges, and helping her boyfriend find a house to buy, and you really DO start thinking....OMG...10 years from now...I'll probably have grandbabies. Crazy. I am 36. Life is fast. So fast!

Summer is over for me when I get my winter chill. It usually happens long about late October and lasts until about April.

I consider summer over when school starts. Although school starts so early here for us...

For me, summer ends the first time I have to wear a jacket. I don't have a school age kid, and I am so far removed from it myself, that I go by the weather more than the calendar. I suspect it will be about the school year soon enough, though. Sigh.
