Return to Sender...

Yesterday, we (finally) got to have a playdate with a blog friend, Erin from It's a Small World. We met through Cara from Land of Bean, who lives in Baltimore.  How they met I can't remember, I only know that Erin and I discovered our close proximity sometime last year and only now managed to get together.

If you haven't met your blog friends in real life yet, you don't know what you're missing.  We had a great breakfast playdate; her babies are adorable, Gabe hit it off wonderfully with everyone, and we spent three hours sipping coffee, eating bagels, nursing babies (well, Erin did, not me), reading books (I loved how Erin's daughter snuggled up next to me on the couch, bringing one book after another to be read) and generally having a wonderful visit.

The only thing missing was our other friends, Cara and Mep from Not to Brag.  Methinks we need to plan a midwest get-together, girls!

Like all good things, the playdate came to an end and I had to get Gabe to school.  He was in tears, and not very cooperative about the leaving part.  I finally wrangled him into his coat and shoes and we said our goodbyes and thank yous and nice to finally meet yous and headed north.

Halfway home, through the tears, Gabe asked for his blankie.

Which was still at Erin's house.

Sigh.

I texted Erin, who found the blankie and offered to mail it, sweet soul that she is.  The weather was getting slushy, and I did not have the time to run all the way back to her town to get it, so the mailing of it was a great idea.

Gabe checked the mailbox as soon as he got home from school.  Three hours later.  And couldn't understand why his blankie wasn't in there yet :)

He made do just fine with our "backup blankies" that I keep in the hall closet, which I thought he would.

Thanks, Erin, for a great morning, and for being the savior of the blankie for Gabe!  Can't wait to do it again (minus the extra trip to the post office for you).

Ahh - poor Gabe. I'm sure in the world where technology sends everything quick, why wasnt it in the mail by the time he got home? ;)

Poor blankie! I imagine it missed gabe as much as did it!
I haven't met any of my bloggie friends, but I did meet up with a group of Disneyworld forum friends at...yep...Disneyworld, and that was great fun.
Hope you have plenty more playdates with your new friends!

What fun! Nope, no f2f meetings for me. sigh. I'm not very brave though. Gotta love Gabe!!!

OH! Caitlyn's squad did not fair well at State. It's a tough competition and they didn't make the top 10. It was a hard loss. : (

Was so wonderful to hang out with you -- so looking forward to doing it again soon.
Also, SO relieved blankie is back where it should be. And I was already planning to be at the post office, so it was NO big deal!
See you soon!

YES to meeting blog friends in real life! Hopefully we will see each other again soon.

And Michaela is the same way about the mail... she sent a card to my sister on Monday, and wanted to know Tuesday if there was one from my sister back to her! We had to have a talk about how the postal system works.
