I may have previously mentioned my love for all things scary. Stephen King books, a good scary movie (Paranormal Activity, anyone?), haunted houses...I love it all.
And so do my kids. I limit what I let them watch (Isabel does NOT like scary movies; Gabe has seen The Village, Signs, and Ghost Adventures and loves them equally). But when they wanted to go with us to King's Island's Fear Fest, I happily obliged.
My niece, Katlyn, who is eight years old, fits right in with the rest of us, and she and Rhonda joined us for a very scary night of haunted train rides, freaky haunted carnivals and stalkers in a corn field.
It was so much fun, I literally peed my pants (darn lack of bladder control). Gabe kept his eyes closed for the first two attractions, but then he got into the spirit of the night and braved it with eyes wide open.
Isabel held onto her dad the entire night, but she claims that she had a lot of fun :)
It may cost me hundreds in therapy sessions at some later date, but boy, it was worth it!
Do you like scary stuff? Would your kids love a good haunted house? Ever read The Shining?

I don't mind scary, but I cannot abide evil stuff. On second thought, I'm a wuss, no scary for me either if I can help it.
HAHAHAHA!!!! I totally laughed at loud when you admitted you literally peed your pants... that would TOTALLY be me too :) Dang 40 yr old bladder!!! haha!!!
I love scary stuff - ONLY when I'm with others who have fun laughing at my screams - it makes it more tolerable! :)
I love me some scary stuff. Sadly, neither my husband nor any of my local friends enjoy the scary. It's early yet, but I have a feeling my daughter is going to be a scare addict, too. She's too much of a thrill junkie not to. When she gets just a squidge older I'll definitely be taking her to Boo at the Zoo and haunted houses and such.
Have you seen the ads for Paranormal Activity 3? HELLO. Can you come to Baltimore to see it with me??
I am such a wimp. I've never been to a haunted house in my life. Can we still be friends??
I don't mind the scary stuff, though I find it bothers me more as I get older than it used to. I enjoy a Haunted Hayride, because you know you're going to keep on moving away from the guy with the chainsaw. My kids are not so much into it. Mistakenly took the kids into that scary ride at KI that used to be the Smurf ride, and O. did not fare so well. He told me later "Those things in there were like the things I see in my room at night when I'm scared!" So, add my name to the future mental health bill!
