Another milestone

This boy...

(who is now 48 inches tall at the ripe old age of five)

has outgrown this bed...

and is graduating to this bed...

(though not the girly version; imagine it with aliens and spaceships instead of flowers)

As soon as the Thomas bed sells on Craigslist (a couple is coming to look at it today), we are heading to Ikea to buy this bed.

Gabe is so excited to have a bunkbed of his own!

(I am less excited about peeling/scraping wallpaper border off the walls.)

Sidenote:  I took Gabe to the barbershop for a haircut this past Thursday.  He hates "taking haircuts".  He cried the whole time, but did at least hold still in the barber's chair until Barber Brett was finished.  When he was done, he turned Gabe toward me and the sight took my breath away.  Not only did he instantly look two years older, he looked so much like my dad it brought tears to my eyes.  Now, I am certain Barber Brett thinks I'm a nut, crying in his shop over a stinking haircut.  Good thing I only go there once every three months; maybe he'll forget all about me by then...

Wow Gabe! Good for you! That is so exciting! Aren't you a lucky boy to have such neat parents!

WOW! That is one tall boy. Yeah, it kind of made me drippy when my youngest outgrew the toddler bed too. It's a mom thing. BTW, Gabe is getting the coolest bed evah.

I just came over to thank you for your visit on Friday. I really enjoy meeting everyone. It is so fun to visit with people from every walk of life.
Loving Gabe's new bed too:)

Isn't it amazing how much a kiddie haircut changes a kids' look? My toddler looked like a big boy after his last haircut. It took my breath away.

And WOW, that new bed is completely awesome! I love, love, love going to IKEA and hope that we sell our house so we can move and have some excuse for IKEA purchases.

It's funny how a haircut can do that -- Dominic got one on Friday and he looks so much older! No more curls.

That bed is pretty cool. Gabe will LOVE it! :)

AHHHH - you cried in the barber shop. Pretty soon, Gabe is going to say "Mom, you're embarassing me" :) but remember, that's your job! :)

I always wanted a bunk bed when I was young... how awesome! And tell Gabe if he's not good, you'll make him put flowers up on his wall just like this picture!

That is one cool bed. I would be excited to get it too!

Somehow I don't think you're the first mom to shed tears seeing their babies grow up too quickly.

Oh, Heather - I KNOW!!!!! I dragged my feet for months before I broke down and got the baby of the family's hair cut and when he did he looked too darn old for my tastes...I so understand!!!!!

What a cool bed! My middle guy LOVES his bunk bed. He loves to climb up the ladder and hang out on the top one...Boys.

Good luck with selling the Thomas bed!

I have seen that bed at Ikea! It is super duper cool! I'm a little jealous of Gabe myself. :)

As for wallpaper. Sigh. I will NEVER put wallpaper or border up. After peeling it off of nearly every room of this house, I am cured of the stuff. I am pretty sure it is an instrument of the pure evil.

They do grow way to quickly don't they. I had an elderly man follow me around the grocery store today just to talk to Addie. He kept telling me that he missed his kids.

You had every right to shed those tears with pride.

Thanks for your encouragement on my little shop!
